Dr. Lucia Covington
Dr. Covington grew up in Manning, SC where her father, Dr. William F. Rawlinson, has practiced dentistry for the last 37 years. She received a Bachelor Degree in Biological Sciences from The College of Charleston in 2003, then attended the Medical University of South Carolina where she received her Doctorate in Dental Medicine in 2009. She continued her specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at MUSC which she completed in 2013. The oral surgery residency training program at MUSC included training throughout the hospital in the following: anesthesia, plastic surgery, general surgery, pediatric surgery, neurosurgery, and cardiology. Furthermore, her extensive core curriculum included anesthesia, physical diagnosis, patient assessment, dentoalveolar surgery, including extraction of teeth, bone grafting, dental implants, temporomandibular surgery, orthognathic surgery, trauma, reconstructive surgery, pathology and benign and malignant tumors.
She is on staff with the Georgetown Hospital System which includes Georgetown Memorial and Waccamaw Community Hospitals. Dr. Covington is a member of The American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, The American Dental Association, South Carolina Dental Association, and has been president of the Grand Strand Dental Society.
She, her husband Wesley, and their beautiful daughter live in Georgetown County with their two adorable Boston terriers, “Sullivan” and “Sammy”. Her hobbies include spending time with family, offshore fishing, tennis, basketball, painting, going to the beach and traveling.
She continues to demonstrate dedication and commitment to improving the lives of patients in the community and instilling the utmost comfort and quality care in her practice with the assistance of her compassionate staff. Dr. Covington and her staff support local charities such as Lions Club, All 4 Paws, Murrells Inlet 2020, Toys for Tots and Special Olympics.
