When calling for an appointment with our office, we ask that you schedule a consultation before surgery. We will ask you to provide personal information along with your health history. Copies of both your dental and medical insurance cards will be taken.
At this consultation appointment, we will discuss the type of procedure(s) you will be receiving along with your options of anesthesia. Minor procedures under local anesthesia can be performed on the same day as the consultation. However, complex procedures that require a treatment plan will usually need to schedule an additional appointment for surgery.
We will need the following items at your consultation appointment:
- Referral slip from your general dentist or doctor
- Panorex (if available)
- Medication List
- Dental and Medical Insurance Cards
If the patient is under the age 18 or is not financially responsible, a parent/guardian must accompany the patient to all appointments. Patients who are not proficient in English, please bring an adult interpreter to receive treatment.
Insurance and Billing
We accept most traditional insurance plans, contact our office to verify acceptance of your plan. Waccamaw Oral Surgery does not participate in Health Management Organizations; however, we will be happy to file your insurance claims for you. We are network providers for Delta Dental Premier, SC Medicaid and Cigna.
Financial concerns should never stand in the way of excellent oral and maxillofacial surgery care. The Waccamaw Oral Maxillofacial Surgery team will work closely with you to design the payment program that fits your personal needs.
For your convenience MasterCard, Visa, Discover and Amex as credit cards accepted. We also offer Care Credit which is a convenient, low minimum monthly payment program with little or no interest. CareCredit is a credit card exclusive for healthcare services. And, it’s better because you get no Interest or low interest financing every time you use it. You can use your card over and over for follow-up appointments or different procedures. This means you don’t have to put your health and beauty on hold until you save up enough money.
Notice of Privacy Practices for Protected Health Insurance
Thank you for choosing Dr. Lucia R. Covington and her staff to take care of all your dental and medical needs. Our patients are greatly appreciated and we want your visits to be pleasant and stress-free.
We will need to make a copy of a picture ID, dental and medical insurance cards at your first visit.
At your first visit, we will collect a consultation fee. However, we will gladly file your insurance for reimbursement and any overpayment will be applied to your surgery fee.
At the end of your consultation appointment, each patient will be given a proposed treatment plan. The proposed treatment plan includes the fee for surgery and the estimated insurance reimbursement.
Your insurance company will be contacted to verify eligibility and an estimated percentage of coverage. The difference between our fee and the estimated insurance percentage will be collected on the day of surgery.
The responsible party will be responsible for all balances due on the account if the insurance fails to pay within 60 days and any costs if the account is placed with a collection agency.
